Question by Debbie: What is the limit for carry on luggages when riding in an airplane within America?
I’m flying from Baltimore to Manchester and I was wondering what is the weight/size limit for the bags/luggages? Also, how much would they charge if i went over the limit?

I have one big luggage, a medium-small luggage, a jansport backpack and a sports bag. I’m worried mostly about the sports bag because it takes up so much space in my luggage, I want to stuff it with clothes and carry it inside along with my medium-small luggage and backpack. Would they allow this?

Best answer:

Answer by zippythejessi
No. You are allowed one carry-on bag (that must be smaller than 21 inches) and one personal item (purse, laptop, etc.) Everything else must be checked.

Why should you identify carry-on luggage? After all, you’re carrying it with you…

Well, the first reason is because you have to. Airlines require that all luggage have proper identification. This is for carry-on bags as well as checked luggage. An easily identifiable tag of your own is the best for this.

Even though you’re going to be carrying it on, it’s always best to have a way to identify carry-on luggage to tell it apart from the luggage of other travelers…. so a name tag in a bright color or one laminated with a big picture of your pet or something like that will make it legal and identifiable at a glance to you.

If you don’t have a tag, you can always use one of those paper tags that they have at airline counters. Put one of those on anyway… it will add to the “uniqueness” of your bag.

You don’t always have that carry-on bag with you. Once you get to your destination, it may ride in the back of a shared minibus or in the storage compartment under an airporter bus. Chances are that it won’t go missing, but if you have identification for your carry-on luggage, you will at least have a chance of getting it back if someone else grabs it by mistake.

This is also helpful if you have to leave bags with the hotel because of check out or check in times. It’s important to identify carry-on luggage if you’re on a tour. It will get stored with the carry-on luggage of all the rest of your tour companions. Think what might happen if that bag gets “misplaced” while someone else is transporting it for you….

We once were on a trekking vacation in India. On the bus ride to our trekking destination, our bag was left on the side of the road…. don’t ask how that happened! Several hours after we arrived at our hotel, the Indian army returned our bag to us because it had proper identification on it, and our itinerary inside.

You may find that size and weight restrictions are much stricter abroad than they are at home. We’ve had to check suitcases in China and Europe that we routinely carry on at home. There is no use arguing that you always carry them on. Those airline personnel have the final say… and if they say to check it…. you check it. At least you have the proper identification on it.

Security experts do recommend that your address be covered so unscrupulous people won’t know you are away from home. They even sometimes recommend that you put a business address on the identification tag.

That’s fine, but you want an honest person to be able to contact you, so have a phone number or address or your itinerary where they can find you if necessary.

I always see ice skaters (figure skaters) having luggage and im always curious to see what they have in there.

Best answer:

Answer by iskate7645
skates
hard guards (to put on our blades when we walk around in them so they don’t dull so quickly)
soft guards (soakers) (to put on our blades to store them)
notebook
gloves
hair stuff
cash
possibly a membership card
sometimes a change of clothes depending on where they’re coming from
extra tights
program music
dress (if going to a competition or test)
sometimes a snack
phone
sometimes camera (so we can tape what we’re doing, and then watch it again to see what needs improvement)

i pretty much just told you what’s in my bag

I have bought the last year version of this bag and now my wife got jealous because she’s using a cheaper door bag. We found out that this convertible backpack is so good that we even bought new ones for each of us. Both of us have the same preference for travelling. We don’t want to go around the airport towing those largely dorky luggage’s that is why, this Rick Convertible really fits our style. We also bought the Rick Steve’s packing cubes which really fits the inside component of the bag. This convertible backpack has lots of compartments in it and there are even bonus pockets such as secret documents pouches. These pockets and pouches are good for storing paper documents and even odd shaped items. Add-ons are the stow-away back pack and waist straps and side cinch straps. The best thing I love about this bag is because it has an expandable via wrap-around zipper which allows you to adjust its size which is also convenient packing and unloading things.

“Travel light and carry on” is a Rick Steve’s philosophy. And owning these Rick bags made me prove such quotation. Aside from its fantastic features, its durability also is an amazing asset. The product is strong enough to carry loads of things you imagined it cannot. I was even shocked myself upon packing my things in the convertible backpack for our trip, cause I just kept putting things in it, then I realized I was over packing. Not because the bag looked awful after packing so many, but because, my closet went ¾ empty, yet the back still got big space for some more stuff.

The convertible backpack may seem quite big, especially for petite people like my wife and carrying it on her back seem awkward. But this is what my wife perfectly loved about the bag because it has side handle that can be used to carry the bag just like a luggage. My wife’s bag was for a fact quite heavy, but the handle is well designed to support total weight of the bag, making it feel your just carrying a laptop briefcase.

I can say this bag is perfectly done. Well designed from style to features to durability. You cannot find any other convertible backpacks that can surpass these as it got many thoughtful details. This perfectly fits my style whether for short trips or long vacations. Rick Steve’s Convertible Carry On is surely done quality wise.

I would like to know what kind of tips you use of getting through TSA Security, the fastest with no hassle. I will be flying from Flint Mi, to Belfast UK. In my carry on bag, i plan on taking my laptop, ipod, phone, and chargers. How should i go about packing my bag.

Best answer:

Answer by kamaole3
All you have to do is make sure everything is operational (i.e. batteries in). After identifying all your devices, the agent may want you to turn them on for assurance that they are what they appear to be. Those things are very common, nothing to be concerned about.
