You can also take handbags, coats etc on board. So it looks as if your mother and father's suitcases will definitely be too heavy to take as carry-on luggage, and yours could be as well. Why don't you just send the suitcases as checked luggage? That's what most people do. Odd, your age and persona changes quite a bit doesn't it!
