This is great, i was really undecided to buy this bag for my iPad, i liked the brand and the design, but the bad odor stories worried me, i did buy a freebrezie but never used in it, it was great the bad odor was unperceptible to non existent, so it was a great buy, its too wide for the iPad, you can put two in the cushioned slot, but the iPad, doesn’t move around in it anyway, less with the Apple case.
The 5th star would be if STM remove the side flaps in the iPad slot.

I picked up the STM Scout Extra Small laptop bag for my IPad and I am very pleased with it. Designed and constructed well. It looks fashionably nice. It is everything I need for an airline carry-on. Small enough to carry my essentials, glasses case, pens, cell phone, IPad, magazine etc.
It looks like a messenger’s bag.
I will be purchasing the STM Scout Medium shoulder bag for my MacBook soon.
A very good product.

My wife bought this bag to use to carry her iPad around, and as a purse to replace an aged one. For these purposes it’s a great bag. As the previous reviewer noted, it stinks. We’re currently in the process of trying to de-stink it with the full intention of sending it back if we can’t get the smell out soon. If you buy one, add a bottle of febreeze to your cart too.

At first I was extremely pleased with this purchase. The STM Scout Extra Small was just the size I needed and was well padded to protect my equipment. Unfortunately, within a few hours it became obvious that the bag reeked of a fish-like odor (free amines?). In an attempt to get rid of the odor I placed the bag on my screened in porch for a few days, which helped to lessen the odor but did not eliminate it. Since the bag is manufactured in China I am very concerned about what the odor may indicate with regard to the process used in its manufacture (i.e., is it safe to handle and breath the fumes?). I, therefore, intend to return it to Amazon for a full refund.

Since the bag was really just what I needed, I decided to give it another shot. I sprayed it both inside and out with Febreze and left it in the sun for four hours to dry.
Great! The odor appears to be gone after this treatment. Add two stars.

I’ve had this bag with my ipad for a week now and couldn’t be happier. Please, get over the smell in the reviews. The cushioned liner had a faint smell if you put your nose right up to it. I can hardly smell it at all now. This bag is solidly built. I have no quams about the “side wings” in the lined section for the ipad. Can you have too much padding/protection for your ipad? There is plenty of room for your ipad, the spacing could have been decreased. As this case was not designed specifically for the ipad, I can’t fault them for it though. If you have to carry a man purse around like me, you might as well find one that looks masculine and is solidly built. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.
