OK, I bought this based on the internal size. The advertised size is right on the money, and you don’t have to worry about the “fits up to 17-inch laptops.” I easily fit my 18.4″ HP HDX18 in this thing. That’s the good news. The bad news is this HP’s big brick adapter is much larger than the older HP model I owned. The case still shuts all right, but the front combo lock has issues sealing. That’s not a huge deal for security reasons since you can still use the two padlock slots on the front of the case, but it probably wouldn’t be too good if I dropped it in a lake.

Anyway, my next stop with this laptop and case is Afghanistan, so I’ll get to (hopefully) keep my laptop safe from the elements over there. I had a Pelican for my old HP when I was in Iraq and it did a beautiful job, so I doubt I’ll have any issues, and neither will you.

This was a purchase for work with the intent of shipping a laptop back and forth between salesmen as need be.

The case is made out of some super hard plastic material. No complaints about the foam inside. A 17″ Dell laptop fits nicely inside however it is a bit tight for the power adapter. There is a nice compartment to hold papers, pens and miscellaneous office material in the top lid.

The latches on the side work quite well and there are two hard points to attach an additional lock beyond the combination lock on the front cover.

I can’t imagine ever trying to put take this on an airplane however as the case is a bit large and bulky for under the seat. This would definitely be an over-head bin case.

You can get this case as you see here at foamerica.com for half this price. everything else the other reviewers say here is absolutly true. This is the best case you can possibly have if you travel lots overseas or are in the construction buisiness.
